Venus and Cupid by Alessandro Allori
Free Art Wallpaper
Alessandro Allori (3 May 1535 - 22 September 1607) was an Italian Florentine painter of the late Mannerist Florentine school. His style was strongly influenced both by Bronzino, under whom he studied, and by Michelangelo. Among his best-known works are decorations in the Medici villa at Poggio a Caiano.
After the death of his father, he was brought up and trained in art by a close friend, often referred to as his ‘uncle‘, the mannerist painter Agnolo Bronzino, whose name he sometimes assumed in his pictures. A visit to Rome in 1554-56 also brought him under the influence of Michelangelo, an influence visible in his frescoes from the early 1560s in the Church of Santissima Annunziata, Florence.
